On 24th July 2016, we are taking off to the Aleutian Islands, Alaska in search of monkeyflowers. This is a map of the route we are planning to follow in this expedition sponsored by the National Geographic Explorers Program. Round trip from Scotland: 26,658 km!

With the last hurdle of paperwork sorted out, we are now ready for departure in eight days. The members of the expedition are:
And we are also joined by Roger Topp, University of Alaska, fairbanks-Museum of the North. In Unalaska, we will have the assistance of a local expert in the flora of the Aleutians, Suzi Golodoff, author of Flora of Unalaska.
